On Friday, May 3, 2019, Jodi and I celebrated both our one year wedding anniversary and Jodi’s birthday. No fancy dinner. No champagne. No upscale B&B in the mountains. We celebrated at South Elm and MLK in downtown Greensboro, performing for the vendors and shoppers at the Firefly Market held on first Fridays. Kristin Schollander of Catbird Art & Events organized and ran the market. She started Catbird Art & Events in 2016 with a main focus to collaborate with local small businesses to organize fun vendor events that would allow the community opportunities to support local, small & handmade. Whatever she’s doing, she’s doing it right. See for yourself: Catbird Art & Events.
It was who we shared the gig with that made the night special. When CBH first started playing, we were invited to a weekly Facebook live event hosted by Neville’s Quarter. Check it out here if you haven’t: Facebook Live w/NQ. Neville’s quarter is a fantastic songwriting guy/girl duo. Listen to their stuff here: Spotify. They were the first in the Chapel Hill live music community to welcome us. They have supported us ever since, and I hope we have done the same. We’ve tried at least. This business can be hard, but playing with friends makes it easy. And having Brian Moyer and Lex Headley split the four hour set with us made May 3 the easiest gig we’ve ever had. Thanks for all your support, Lex and Brian.
